Founded in 1988, SEAT (Special Event And Transportation) Planners is one of the nation's leading providers of transportation services for meetings and conventions. Founded by Steve and Pat Weathers, a husband and wife team with more than 40 years of combined experience in mass transit and convention services, SEAT Planners has transported more than 1 million passengers at meetings in 33 cities throughout the United States and Canada. Whether the group is 5 or 50,000, SEAT Planners can provide you with a full range of transportation services. Although all types of ground transportation needs can be accommodated, the business has grown by specializing in hotel overflow shuttles for citywide conventions, large special event transfers and airport transfers, including "meet and greet".
Steve Weathers - President
Prior to co-founding SEAT Planners, Steve owned his own bus company and served as the general manager of a bus line. Through the years he has worked as a trade show coordinator, tour guide, bus dispatcher, and even a bus driver. Steve is a leading authority on bus route planning and regularly consults with convention industry officials on transportation issues. He is active in the San Diego visitor industry and is a member of the San Diego Convention & Visitor's Bureau's Board of Directors and also sits on the Community Relations Committee. Steve is a San Diego native and his passion for San Diego history is second only to his passion for buses. If you ever have out of town guests, Steve is the one you want giving the guided tour.
Pat Weathers - Vice President
Pat was formerly the director of sales for a large hotel in San Diego prior to co-founding SEAT Planners. Her extensive background in the hotel industry gives her insight into the needs of meeting planners -- whether it's a small corporate meeting or a large national convention. Pat has special expertise in the logistical support needed to efficiently move large numbers of conventioneers. Pat and Steve enjoy working together and experiencing new restaurants during their travels has become a hobby. They have recently begun collecting menus and cookbooks, with the chef's signature, from some of the more prominent restaurants in the country for display in the kitchen of their new home.
Mina Rule - Executive Secretary
Mina came to SEAT Planners as a fill-in receptionist from a temp agency. Now, several years later, she has grown to be an integral part of the SEAT team. Her enthusiasm and sense of humor puts smiles on the faces of staff and clients and her administrative skills help put the final polish on SEAT's bid presentations. She also gets to breathe bus fumes on-site a couple of times a year just to keep her operations skills honed. Mina is an accomplished singer and is inclined to burst into song at any given moment. Among Mina's many antics is her ability to mimic people's voices and mannerisms. If you see Mina, ask her to do a classic Steve "Stress Attack".
Veronica Kenny - Business Manager
Veronica has played an instrumental part in the expansion of the Operations Department at SEAT Planners, helping to turn it onto a bustling, polished department that it has become today. A 10-year veteran of convention shuttles, Veronica now heads the accounting department as Business Manager. She is a recent graduate of Cal State University San Marcos with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and she is also a certified scuba diver. She has been the Operations Manager of many shuttles exceeding 5,000 peak room nights, in keeping with SEAT Planners' philosophy of being an operationally driven company. Not even the Business Manager is exempt from being out on the sidewalk breathing bus fumes. In 1996 she directed the parking lot shuttle for the Republican National Convention. In her spare time she enjoys traveling and experiencing great restaurants. When you are looking for the best restaurant in town, Veronica is the one to ask.
Jodie Keller - Director of
Sales
Jodie was literally one of SEAT Planners' first employees, starting work as a part-time coordinator in 1990. She came to SEAT from the operations department at Sea World San Diego, where one of her talents was driving a bus for the parking lot shuttle. Jodie's shuttle resume is extensive, having worked hundreds of programs of all types and sizes. As Director of Operations she heads the team of Operation Managers, Operations Assistants and Interns who all make the shuttles work. Rollerblading and "power naps" during breaks help her keep up with the rigors of shuttles in San Diego and on the road. If you get the chance, ask her about "Over The Line," the unique beach softball game she took up when she moved to San Diego from Florida.
Denise
Glasgow - Director of Purchasing &
Standards
Denise was recruited from Las Vegas in 1995 as an Operations Manager
after showing her talents as a Route Coordinator during a busy shuttle
assignment at the Sands Expo Center. She is a perfectionist and extremely
focused, which lends itself perfectly to organizing the intricate
details of a shuttle. Because Denise has continued to elevate the
standards of SEAT Planner's shuttles, she was promoted to Senior Operations
Manager in 1999. Denise is creative and her artistic flair lends itself
perfectly to maintaining SEAT's signature creativity. She also is
a collector of memorabilia (just ask her about her Pez collection).
Lesley Lerps
- Director of Operations
Lesley joined the SEAT Planners Operations team in 1998 after moving
from Guam to San Diego. She began her journey at SEAT as an intern from San Diego State University
while earning a degree in Recreation Management with an emphasis in Systems
Management. Not knowing what she was getting herself into...she moved up the
corporate ladder and is now the Director of Operations! Her role has proven to
be a worthy challenge and she enjoys working with her fabulous clients and her
highly skilled operations team. When she is not traveling to all ends of
the continent managing transportation and supervising many great conferences,
she enjoys time spent with family, friends, and good wine (Brunello di
Montalcino is her favorite). Her best contribution to SEAT Planners would
be her precocious daughter, Amber, whose first shuttle was in Atlanta where she
stayed at the Ritz Carlton (all before she was one!). She is also a source of
laughter during stressful times at SEAT with her uncanny wit (much the same as
Steve Weathers, her mentor).
Clinton Glasgow -
Senior Operations Manager
Clinton relocated from Orlando, Florida in 2000 to join the SEAT Planners
team full time. A Sea World Orlando recruit, where he performed just about every
job in the Operations Special Events Department, Clinton proved himself as a
part-time Route Coordinator in Orlando beginning in 1995 and soon started
traveling regularly with SEAT Planners in that capacity. He quickly moved up to
On-Site Supervisor and continued to "commute" to SEAT destination cities from
Orlando. Clinton's quiet determination, on-site dedication and attention to
detail made him a natural choice for the position of Operations Manager. We are
glad that he made the move to San Diego. He has a keen interest in computers and
is never far away from his laptop where he keeps track of his "day trader"
stocks. Clinton was born on the island of St. Vincent and spent the first seven
years of his life in the Caribbean.
Ryan Berling -
Operations Manager
Aspiring long-boarder (that’s a surfing term), Ryan is another success
story for SEAT Planners and the San Diego State University hospitality program,
starting as an intern in 2003, after which he became an Operations Associate. He
graduated in 2005 with a BA in Recreation Systems Management and was quickly
promoted to Operations Manager in August of that same year. Ryan gets his love
of the outdoors from being born and raised in Californian where he’s been able
to hike, fish and camp year round. By living in one of San Diego’s beach
communities since 2000, he is able to enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle which is
a benefit when running a transportation program. In addition, Konas’ (a famous
Pacific Beach local’s eatery) breakfast burritos give him the fuel to chase
buses up and down convention center driveways across the country.
